da betway: We’re now on the home stretch to the World Cup and Gareth Southgate has a huge decision to make in central midfield. With Eric Dier and Jordan Henderson described as workaday at best, the search is still on for a midfielder who can give England some spark, ingenuity and dynamism in the engine room. Fortuitously though, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is making a very strong case for himself to partner one of the aforementioned duo.
da marjack bet: Indeed, a summer move to Liverpool has breathed vital life into the 24-year-old’s stuttering career, not least because he now finds himself in an offensive-minded box-to-box central role rather than lumbering around as Arsenal’s emergency right wing-back.
His dynamic performance in the 4-3 win over Manchester City last month was perhaps the best to date of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career considering the quality of the opposition, but there has been an underlying concern-come-criticism that his power and athleticism only truly impacts against top teams. England’s biggest issue though, is how they perform against lesser sides that allow them territory and possession – Iceland being the obvious example.

But West Ham would arguably fall into that bracket when travelling to Anfield and Oxlade-Chamberlain – who Transfermarkt value at £27million – was easily amongst Liverpool’s most effective players on Saturday with an action-packed midfield display.
Come the final whistle, he’d created the most chances, completed the most dribbles, produced the second-most shots on target and made the second-most tackles of any Liverpool player.
It remains to be seen how Oxlade-Chamberlain would perform in a midfield two, should Southgate opt for a 3-4-3 formation at the World Cup this summer. But based on current displays, no English central midfielder can match the 30-cap international’s mix of brutish power and offensive flair.
