Leeds United are determined to sign a striker before the Friday deadline and according to The Athletic the club has now turned its attention to RB Leipzig’s Jean-Kevin Augustin.
The forward is currently on loan at Monaco but he hasn’t fared too well with the French club, scoring just one goal in 13 games, and it is possible that Leipzig will seek to move him elsewhere.
His form at Monaco is not isolated, either, and in fact he has shown that he is far from a proven goalscorer throughout his career. From 111 senior matches he has found the target on just 23 occasions, raising questions about why the Whites are targeting the 22-year-old.

Having been linked to Che Adams and Andre Gray this seems to be a bit of a step-down, particularly as Augustin has no experience of playing in England, and supporters have raised concern as a result.
Supporters are rightly worried, as the last player they need to bring in is a striker who is as inconsistent as Patrick Bamford in front of goal, since fans have already grown frustrated with him.
However, given the Championship is a lower standard than Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, where Augustin has performed previously, it is possible that the Frenchman will have a greater chance of showing his quality and performing well for Leeds.
Some supporters have faith in the player’s ability as well as Marcelo Bielsa’s judgement of players, and it is possible that playing for big clubs like Monaco and PSG will stand him in good stead at Elland Road.
