da supremo: Harry Kane has proven himself to be one of the very best strikers on the planet.
da jogodeouro: Since making his debut for Tottenham, he has netted a huge 181 goals in 278 appearances for Spurs. In all but one full Premier League season, he has scored at least 20 times and, at his very best, he is a centre-forward who has scored 41 goals in one campaign in all competitions.
Not only that, he is the England captain, and has 32 goals in 45 caps for his country.

Unfortunately for Jose Mourinho, he has been without his star striker in the last seven league matches. In the first two games he missed, it was clear his absence was going to be a problem – they failed to score in either. They have recovered a little in an attacking sense, scoring nine in the next five matches, but it is still painfully obvious that they miss his influence up top.
The £135m-valued star’s injury – as per Transfermarkt – has kept him out of the side recently, but otherwise, he would be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Whilst it is a blessing when he is available, it puts them in the difficult situation of being unable to attract a good enough back-up option that would be willing to play second fiddle. Krzysztof Piatek, Olivier Giroud (Sky Sports via talkSPORT) and Odion Ighalo were just three of the forwards they looked to target during the January transfer window, but none of those deals ended up going through.
The case of the former is a particularly interesting one – he ended up moving to Hertha Berlin who, although not as glamorous as Tottenham, have given him a platform to feature regularly – he has started all but one match since making the switch.
Tottenham are not in a position to attract the best of the best – the likes of Kylian Mbappe are linked with Liverpool, not the north London outfit – but they are the only group of players who would really be able to challenge Kane. As such, they must target other options, but many of them are likely unwilling to make the switch as they know they will struggle to displace the 26-year-old.
As such, it leaves Spurs in the precarious position in which they are lacking a replacement in Kane’s absence – Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Steven Bergwijn have filled in during his spell on the sidelines, all of whom are wingers by trade.
Kane is both a blessing and a burden to Daniel Levy and co. His performances are of the highest order, but he has backed Tottenham into a transfer corner that will be difficult for them to find their way out of.
Meanwhile, Robbie Savage provides his verdict on Tottenham’s trophy aspirations.
