da apostaganha: Arsenal have a reputation for selling players and having rather rapid regret.
da 888: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the latest player to be linked with a move away from the club and it sounds as though Arsenal would consider a sale.
Chamberlain is yet to nail down a place as an Arsenal regular and the versatile midfielder looks like he is rapidly falling down the pecking order at the club. Now 22-years-old, ‘The Ox’ is short of first team football, having started just nine Premier League games this season, and other clubs will be considering making a move for a player who still has such a remarkably high potential.
The Euros are likely to have a big impact on the ex-Saints’ future, with the tournament this summer a big opportunity for him to impress either new employers or his current bosses.
Chamberlain, if he recovers from injury, should easily make the England squad but the FA are likely to run out of patience with him soon if he doesn’t begin to start more games.
So, here are FIVE clubs who may look to sign the former Southampton man…
Manchester City
The links between Guardiola and Chamberlain have already begun.
Guardiola, for all we know, might be thinking of the Arsenal man as a potential replacement for Pablo Zabaleta at right-back, but he certainly would fit the player profile that Guardiola would look for.
Chamberlain’s pace and power would allow him to run from deep and he, with a bit of work, could have the technical prowess of one of Europe’s best.
The concern for City would be Chamberlain’s tactical awareness – or lack of it – and how he would cope with Guardiola’s complex systems.
Chelsea
If Antonio Conte takes over as Chelsea boss, Chamberlain would be the sort of player to perfectly fit the profile.
Whether Conte opts for his Bari-used 4-2-4 or his Juventus 3-5-2, there is space for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
A hard working central midfielder in a two man midfield pairing or as a up and down wing-back in a 3-5-2, it is easy to see how Chamberlain could fit in. His powerful build and good engine makes him an enticing prospect for a manager who values intensity of play and Chamberlain could do a similar job to Kwadwo Asamoah as a wing-back.
West Ham
Despite the good recent form of Antonio, West Ham are likely to look to add to the depth in their attacking areas due to the prospect of European football next season.
Chamberlain would relish the chance to play at the Olympic Stadium and join a raft of attacking talent at the Hammers. Although Bilic is likely to be looking for a centre forward this summer, an extra wide man to compete with Lanzini, Payet and Antonio would be a huge bonus.
Stoke City
Assuming Stoke keep hold of Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri, Chamberlain seems a slightly unnecessary addition.
However, the Potters, like West Ham, could be in the Europa League next season and would desperately need the depth. Currently, injury to Arnautovic or Shaqiri leaves Walters, Afellay or Diouf shunted out to a wide position and leaves the squad stretched.
Hughes would surely like to add to the width in his squad and perhaps allow him to use one of his current wingers in a central position.
Everton
Defence should really be the priority for Everton this summer, yet its hard to see how they could miss out on an opportunity to add a player of Chamberlain’s calibre.
Gerard Deulofeu is continually inconsistent and Kevin Mirallas has struggled to recreate his best form over the past year or so.
Martinez, if he stays on as Everton manager, is likely to have more to spend than ever before this summer and Chamberlain should be one of his first targets.
