da pinnacle: Despite beginning the campaign brightly, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has struggled for form in recent weeks.
da 888casino: The England international started the season with a bang as he scored his side’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham on the opening day, but he hasn’t been as influential since – picking up just one goal and one assist in 12 appearances as the Merseyside outfit have won only one of their last Premier League ten matches.
Ronald Koeman obviously hasn’t been impressed with the 23-year-old’s showings and the attacking midfielder was relegated to the substitutes’ bench for the Toffees’ last two top-flight matches against Manchester United and Watford.
Failing to consistently bring that creativity and a goal threat will be a huge concern for the Dutchman, and he could look to secure a cost-effective replacement to provide competition for Barkley during the upcoming January transfer window.
Here are FIVE potential replacements for the midfielder…
Yunus Malli
The Mainz attacking midfielder has been in impressive form this season and could be on the move to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
Tottenham have been linked with the Turkey international, and with the 24-year-old scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit this term, Koeman and Everton should be taking a look at a player who could be available for less than £10m.
Davy Klaassen
Of course, because he is Dutch and he has managed in the Eredivisie, Koeman will always be linked with – and have a good knowledge of – the top players in the Netherlands.
One that he should know well is Ajax captain Klaassen, and the 23-year-old has scored an impressive twelve goals in 23 outings for the Dutch giants.
If Everton are looking to push on as a club without being able to attract the biggest names, the attacking midfielder is exactly the sort of player they should be targeting.
Jacob Murphy
Following a string of impressive performances for Norwich City in the Championship this season, Murphy has already been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Everton said to be one of the teams interested in securing his services.
The 21-year-old has netted seven goals in his breakthrough season and although he known as a winger, he has also shown that he is capable of playing in Barkley’s position through the middle as well.
Hakim Ziyech
With some extremely impressive stats for former club FC Twente, it was a surprise that no Premier League side decided to take a chance on Ziyech before he joined Ajax for less than £10m in the summer.
The Moroccan was linked with Koeman’s former side Southampton earlier this year and the 23-year-old is likely to still be on the radar of the Dutchman.
With eight goals and nine assists since his move to Amsterdam, Ziyech is proving that he is an impressive performer that can make a big impact in England.
Thorgan Hazard
Thorgan’s brother Eden has certainly shown his quality in the Premier League over the past few years with Chelsea, and now it might be time for his younger sibling to make the move to England from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 23-year-old attacker has netted seven goals and picked up four assists in all competitions for the German outfit this season, and while the fee to prise him away from the Bundesliga could be substantial, he would be a great investment for an Everton team that are aiming for big things.
