Chelsea fans clearly don’t want to risk the Real Madrid loanee’s injury that forced him to limp off after 50 minutes of the 4-1 win over Cardiff at Stamford Bridge last weekend and miss Thursday’s trip to Greece in the Europa League altogether.
Kovacic has been in excellent form since he was brought on after an hour of Chelsea’s second game of the season against Arsenal and has started every league game since. His understanding of Maurizio Sarri’s fast-paced football has been evident and he has struck up a strong relationship with N’Golo Kante and fellow new signing Jorginho in midfield.
However, 60 per cent of Chelsea fans wanted Sarri to start Barkley, who has 22 caps for England, at the London Stadium where Chelsea lost 1-0 last year. Check out the full results below.
