da dobrowin: It was a tough weekend for Birmingham as Gary Monk’s side were beaten heavily by Aston Villa in the Second City Derby.
da bwin: Birmingham put in a good performance but on the day, they couldn’t stop a Villa side that has only lost one game at home this weekend.
The loss sees Birmingham sit 12th in the table, six points off Derby in sixth. The Blues face Millwall in what is a game that they should and need to win in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Gary Monk has turned Birmingham into a solid side and with Che Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz in the team, he has two of the better strikers in the league.
In what will only add misery to the City faithful following their derby loss, Birmingham are reportedly in violation of Financial Fair Play rules and the EFL is apparently pushing for a heavy points deduction as well as a possible transfer embargo.
The Breakdown
Birmingham are apparently having to stick to an imposed EFL business plan. With a tough festive period coming up and with the transfer window not far away, the news will come as terrible news.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but if the club were to be given a points deduction and transfer embargo, it would be a terrible blow to what has been a very promising season.
With so much still left to play for, Monk will be hoping that there are no ramifications come February.
