After three games of the new Championship season, Leeds are unbeaten. They’ve seen off the challenges of Bristol City and Wigan whilst also drawing with Nottingham Forest.
The performance against Forest was disappointing and Patrick Bamford’s sorry tale in front of goal told the story as he missed six opportunities.
He was back in business as he popped up with two strikes against Wigan but one of the performances that went slightly under the radar was Adam Forshaw.

The 27-year-old came into the new term under fire from Leeds supporters but after his performance against Wigan, it appears to have put him back in their good books.
Forshaw isn’t a player who will regularly pop up with goals and that’s putting it lightly. He’s failed to score in the league since 2015/16.
However, he appears to be flourishing in a role slightly more advanced this season.
With Tyler Roberts out injured, he’s been tasked with playing alongside Mateusz Klich in Marcelo Bielsa’s 4-1-4-1 formation and he’s proving to be a valuable asset.
He was assured in the middle of the park, completing 89% of his passes against Wigan and even hit the woodwork.
How he didn’t finally end his goal drought was unfortunate as he also skewed an attempt wide in the second half too.
But it’s his calming and disciplined presence in that role that’s allowing players like Pablo Hernandez and Klich to thrive.
Forshaw isn’t a player to rave about because of the lack of goals he produces but the two aforementioned players certainly are. Hernandez scored 12 and assisted 12 in 2018/19 whilst Klich helped himself to ten goals.
They’ve both started the season impressively too, being given extra license because they’ve got a more defensive-minded player next to them, instead of Roberts.

Against Wigan last Saturday, his Polish midfield partner was able to perform three key passes whilst Hernandez managed five dribbles.
They both thrived last season but arguably, they are now gaining greater levels of freedom because of Forshaw.
The former Middlesbrough man still got forward and a goal would have been the icing on the cake last weekend.
However, that is not his job. Instead, it’s to allow those around him more license in advanced areas.
So far this season, he’s done that effectively.
